Meet Keyta!

How is it possible that a lady with this much pizzazz is still at the shelter? Keyta has an infectious personality! She loves to tussle with other dogs but when it comes to snuggle time, she is first in line (even if she has to push her way up there!). Full of herself and full of life - that's Keyta! Many people have considered Keyta, but nobody has come through. Can you or someone you know commit to this charmer?

Keyta is a Featured dog. With an intake year of 2007, she has been waiting at the shelter much longer than she deserves. A donor is sponsoring 1/2 the adoption fee to help Keyta find the right home.

Can you help T.J.?

TJ is the sweetest girl. Her gentle and snuggly nature have won over the staff. Sadly, she tested positive for heartworm. Money is tight, but we want to help this girl. Any amount you give will be a lifeline for TJ! Please visit her fundraiser if you are able to help: TJ Needs Heartworm Treatment!

Meet Lovey!

Lovey arrived at the shelter in a state of extreme confusion. She could not understand where her family had gone, and huddled whimpering in the kennel. She is hugely people-oriented and will melt against you when you love on her. Lovely will politely exchange kisses as well. This loving dog is just waiting for someone to love her back. She is outside in kennel 14.

Did you know that black dogs are the least likely to get adopted? Our Hearts of Gold program is designed to highlight how beautiful they truly are. Can you open your heart to one of these golden dogs?

Meet Sammy!

Sammy is a super-adorable Beagle gent. Although he has a little grizzle on his muzzle, landing him in our group of Mature dogs, Sammy is still full of spunk and affection! He will run right over to get some attention. Do you know someone who needs some Sammy Sunshine in their life? Sammy is waiting at The Animal Shelter!

Mature dogs make excellent pets! Calmer than those younger hooligans, these older pups usually also have better housemanners and are especially appreciative of getting a good forever home to retire in (or start that second childhood!). Won't you consider a Mature pet?

The Great Spring Clean-up!

We have accumulated a lot of "stuff" packed here, there, and everywhere at the shelter. In the spirit of Spring Cleaning, we've decided it is time to clear it out!

Join us on Saturday, April 18th between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. as we bag it up and haul it off! (It's free day at the county landfill.)

Even if you can only join us for an hour or two, we and our animals will appreciate your help in making the shelter a cleaner, safer environment.

What to bring: A good work ethnic, work gloves and grungy clothes, and if you have a pickup truck to take a load to the landfill, that would be great!

Who to contact: Angie (call 256-236-1581 or email ashelter@bellsouth.net)

Razoo contest has ended

4/6 Update: Although we did not win the drawing, we raised $445 for the shelter through the fundraiser. Thank you, participants!

3/31 Update: We made it! Thanks to our supporters, we have enough donors to be in the $1,000 drawing ~ keep all fingers (& paws) crossed!

Update: We are 4 donors short of being entered into the drawing for $1,000. Spring is full of so many challenges - fleas and ticks, mosquitoes, and puppies & kittens pouring in. Have you got $10 you can spare this month? Our pups and kitties would sure appreciate it!! The deadline is March 31.

Help us in Razoo's MARCH GOODNESS contest! Razoo will award a top prize of $10,000 to the organization with the highest number of contributors during the month of March, with $3,000 to the runner-up. We are asking for the minimum donation of $10 from as many people as possible. If we get 10 voters, we are entered in a $1,000 drawing. 50 voters will enter us in a drawing for $2,000! Your $10 can go a very long way!

(Razoo is affiliated with GuideStar and donations are handled securely through Network for Good.)
