Cook for a Cause! (or just watch)

Do you like to cook? Or maybe you like to watch cooking shows? We have the perfect event for you!

Cooking 4 a Cause has selected US as the beneficiary of their first fundraiser! An interactive live audience, three judges, two cooks and one dish to create...come watch this fun event and help The Animal Shelter at the same time.

Join the excitement on Tuesday, June 23rd at the Jacksonville Community Center from 5:30 - 7:30 pm. Go to their Web site for more information.

Meet Marilyn!

MARILYN is a burst of energy and sunshine! She is a fun friendly girl who will do well with an active family or as a companion to an active dog. How anyone can resist that goofy grin or her love-the-world attitude is beyond us!

Did you know that black dogs are the least likely to get adopted? Our Hearts of Gold program is designed to highlight how beautiful they truly are. Can you open your heart to one of these golden dogs?

SOS Update: ChipIn Goal Met!!

We made it! Our $10,000 goal for the ChipIn campaign has been met! Thank you to every single one of the 199 people who contributed to this ChipIn. Large or small, your contribution made a difference in the lives of this shelter and all the animals staying there until they find their forever home. SOS Update

Thanks to the kindness of you donors, we have been very busy the last few days. It is time to deliver some good news!

Gas: being hooked back up!
Water: remaining on!
Power: paid in full by the Anniston Medical Clinic!

In addition to our online friends, people have dropped in, mailed checks, and offered to host fundraisers. We are so grateful - there is hope on the horizon!

Meet Thurman!

Thurman looks like mini Saint Bernard! He's really pretty small (40lbs?) - perfect for any home. He's a good natured guy who is fine with other dogs as mannerly as himself. Very laid back and definitely wants to be a house dog, he is so very sad about being outside.

Thurman is a member of The ONE Club - he's been looking for "the one" for over 1 year. Isn't it time he found home?

First Matching Challenge Met!

Thank you so much everyone - the first $5,000 donation has been met! The matching funds are on their way from the donor, who says Opal is overjoyed! (see her and Shelter foster dog Erin goofing off below).
