Another Donation Challenge!

In response to the call, another donor has stepped forward with a $5,000 match. That means all donations up to $10,000 will be matched! We are blessed by our Anniston area and online communities - thank you!

Please refer to the prior blog on ways to help :)

The Animal Shelter Receives Donation Challenge!

As you may have seen in the media recently, the economy is taking its toll on the shelter. But there's good news!

To help the shelter through these hard times, a past adopter has offered to match all donations in the month of June, up to $5,000 total! There are many ways you can help the shelter take advantage of this offer:

#1 Give: Perhaps you have a few dollars sitting, or you can skip one lunch this month or that special indulgence, and instead send those dollars to the shelter. Go to the Campaign page to Chip In (ChipIn forwards donations to our Paypal account and is secure)

#2 Organize a Group Gift: Perhaps you only have $2 sitting, but you know 20 people (think co-workers, Bible study, or your social club) who also have $2 sitting. Organize a group Giving Day. Together, your $2, and someone else’s $5, and another’s $1, can add up to something great!

#3 Spread the Word: Maybe you write for a newsletter. Or you know someone who’s been looking for a good cause. Is there a posting board at your grocery store or church? Hang a flyer! (Download our MS Word flyer)

#4 Add a Widget: If you have a Web site, blog, or social networking page, you can copy the widget on our ChipIn page and post it on your site.

#5 Keep Voting: What’s better than free money? The Shelter+ Challenge voting has been going great! Let’s keep it up and see what we can accomplish together!

#6 Share Your Ideas: Has something different worked for you or another group in the past? Know of another way to get help? Have a good suggestion to share? Send an email!

Meet Sasha!

We don't understand why wonderful Sasha has yet to find home - she has been waiting for so very long. She is a fun and loving girl who enjoys a good time and good friends. She'll give you great companionship and make you smile! She is also wonderful with other dogs. Shasha is perfectly sized at around 30lbs.

SASHA is a Featured dog. With an intake year of 2007, these dogs have been waiting at the shelter much longer than they deserve. A donor is sponsoring 1/2 the adoption fee to help them find the right home. Could it be yours?

Meet Peggy! Update: Adopted!

Update 5/28: Peggy has been adopted!!

Peggy may be missing a leg, but don’t let it bother you – it doesn’t bother her! Peggy is all lap dog – got a lap?

Peggy is a Special Edition! Though these dogs may require some specialized care, they are more than capable of giving you the same love and fun any other dog can give. Are you special enough for a special edition?

Meet Boone!

Boone has some smiles yet to share in his senior years! He's a funny guy who deserves a great retirement. When you scratch his back, Boone does the cutest little jig :) He does enjoy a good snooze, but he'd like it better on a nice cozy dog bed in someone's living room.

Mature dogs make excellent pets! Calmer than those younger hooligans, these older pups usually also have better house manners and are especially appreciative of getting a good forever home to retire in (or start that second puppyhood!). Won't you consider a Mature pet?

Meet Maizy!

Don't call Maizy disabled! She gets along without that leg just fine and dandy. Maizy is an amazing athlete who plays fetch with a passion, and actually brings the ball back! With her Viszla heritage, she is no couch potato. Anyone looking for a playmate will do well to look atMaizy!

Maizy does bark at men, but she is SO addicted to playing ball that we believe a good game of fetch will win her over.

Maizy is a Special Edition! Though these dogs may require somespecialized care, they are more than capable of giving you the same love and fun any other dog can give. Are you special enough for a special edition?

Give Warm Fuzzies for Mother's Day!

What do you get the Mom who has everything? A gift from the heart - a gift to the needy animals at The Animal Shelter!

We have some important donation funds set up for our greatest needs:

Kick the Tics ($25) will provide flea & tick preventive during our season of need.

Cut a Mutt ($35) will allows us to take one of our furry friends for grooming.

Fix a Critter ($50) will allow more dogs & cats to visit PetSmart for offsite adoptions.

Save a Heart ($100) will help us treat our heartworm positive dogs so they can be adopted.

For an extra-special Mother's Day present, you can contribute specifically to T.J.'s heartworm fund in the amount of your choosing. You can leave Mom a special note on our wall.

Then, be certain you give Mom what she wants most - time with you! Take her online to show her the animals that your donation in her honor will help.
