Voting Updates!

We currently have 2 opportunities for you to vote to help the shelter; here's how we are doing:

The Shelter+ Challenge is an endurance event (every day through December 20th) - thank you for sticking with us! We are excited to be consistently in the Top Ten every week - currently sitting pretty at #5 in the state of Alabama! That's mighty close to the $1,000 prize for #1 in the state.

At the mid-point through the Cutest Dog Competition Week 9, Opal is feeling special with 76 votes! Not bad for a newcomer to the competition. She'd sure love more supporters, though, so if you haven't added voting for Opal to your daily tasks, give it a try! It's quick and easy, and $500 hangs in the balance.

Lastly, if you haven't visited our Adoptable Dog listings lately, take a look! There are some adorable faces added this week.

Can You Help Sonny?

Today we are asking you to not just meet Sonny, but to help us help him. Sonny is a very handsome Springer/Border Collie mix - as you can see! But Sonny is having an extremely hard time in the shelter environment - he is very stressed out.

We are anxious to find a different environment for Sonny where he can relax and thrive - ideally a new home, of course! But a rescue or a foster would be great as well. Can you help get the word out about Sonny? If you think you have what it takes to become a foster home, you can contact the shelter directly at ashelter@bellsouth.net to learn more.

Update on Boone

Super, silly senior Boone, who was approaching one year at the shelter, managed to avoid joining The ONE Club by getting...adopted! Many thanks to his adopter, who was able to see beyond age, and much happiness to Boone.

Meet Thelma!

Thelma is an utterly adorable, petite girl who will fit perfectly in just about any home. Not a bit hyper, her favorite activities include sniffing, getting attention, and training for treats. She is bright and friendly and we have no idea how potential adopters have been able to resist her.

Thelma is a member of The ONE Club - she has been looking for "the one" for over one year. Isn't it time she found home?

Meet Brown Bob!

Bob came to the shelter when he was just a baby - an adorable, precocious baby who promptly tried out all the agility equipment. He is part cattle dog, afterall! But Bob's cuteness and cleverness didn't manage to find him a home. Bob seems a sad soul these days, but we're sure his youthful enthusiasm and intelligence will resurface in a home of his own.

Meet Sheba!

Sheba has really been through her ups and downs in her ONE YEAR waiting for a forever home. She spent some time in foster care and had a potential adopter, but the deal fell through and she returned to the shelter. Heartworm positive, she waited for a sponsor so she could get treatment. She was finally treated this summer, and not a bit too soon - treatment was rough, but she is a survivor!

We would LOVE for Sheba to go straight from her temporary foster to a forever home without a return to the shelter. Can you help us find a home for this deserving beagle-mix girl? Sheba is shy at first, but once she warms up, you'll find she is sweet and silly. Like any good hound, she can become lost in a scent. Contact the shelter for an appointment to meet her!

Good News for Breezy and TJ!

Breezy, Blog Dog of the Week on July 20 and Pet of the Week in the Anniston Star on August 15, has been adopted!

And we hope you all remember TJ, the snuggly pitty girl who recently recovered from heartworm treatment. This wonderful girl is soaking up tons of attention from the mother-daughter team in her new home!
